To pre-enroll please complete the procedure online. In order to complete your enrolment, you will need to obtain an entry visa.
Important information for non-EU students: if you need to apply for a visa to enter Italy, please note that the Italian Ministry for University and Research has published the Procedures for entry, residency and enrollment in Italian Higher Education Institutions for students requiring a Visa for a.y. 2023/24. You are strongly recommended to read this document carefully and, if it applies to you, to register to the Universitaly portal in order to obtain a study visa for Italy attaching the documents listed in the side menu.
If you are a non-EU student residing abroad and you want to enrol in a degree programme taught in Italian, you must meet the Italian language requirement: pass the Italian language test or present a valid certificate.
Online pre-enrolment is mandatory for all non-UE students living abroad, including those who have already gone through LUM’s pre-selection process.
Visa and Residence Permit
All non-EU students who have been admitted to any program at LUM University will receive an official invitation letter from the University (after sending their personal information needed to issue the letter to the International Office) which is to be used when applying for an Italian study visa.
Students who need a study Visa for Italy can visit the dedicated page on the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s website, in order to check the documentation they need and the specific Consulate/Embassy/Visa center they have to refer to.
According to the Procedures for entry, residency and enrollment in Italian Higher Education Institutions for students requiring a Visa for a.y. 2022/23 study visas for university enrollment have to be finalized by November 30, 2022.
Once in Italy, non-EU students need to apply for a residence permit no later than 8 working days after the date of their arrival (the date is shown on their visa, inside their passport).

Pre-application in a Bachelor or Single-cycle degree programme:

Pre-application in a two-year master’s degree programme:
- high school diploma, translated into Italian, legalized by the authorities of the country issuing the degree;
- Degree (Bachelor Sc. or equivalent), translated into Italian by an official translator, legalized by the competent authorities of the Country issuing the degree;
- on-site Declaration of Value issued by the Italian Embassy in the country where the degree has been obtained or Statement of comparability issued by CIMEA (only for those already in possession);
- identity document;
- admission letter issued by our University.
ATTENTION:
The high school diploma and university degree/certificates are also accepted in French, English, German and Spanish.
The certified translation of the university degree and the related on-site Declaration of Value/statement of validity can be replaced by the Diploma Supplement issued by the universities of countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area.
Foundation Year
LUM University and the Consortia CIRPS and IEP, have recently started a collaboration which has led to the creation of a special programme within the Foundation Year.
Students enrolled through IEP on the FY Programme will get a 20% tuition fees reduction.
How the LUM’s FY is organized
The course runs from September 2023 to June 2024.
The course is divided into two semesters:
- First semester: September – January
- Second semester: February – June.
Students can choose between four study programmes, run in Italian and/or English:
- Foundation Year Information Technology
- Foundation Year Economics, International relations
- Foundation Year Science and Energy
- Foundation Year Agriculture and Sustainability

CFC credit recognition
Foundation Course (CFC) credits are not university credits; therefore, it is not possible to request them recognition for any course abbreviations.
To enroll on the LUM University’s Foundation Year, students need:
- At least 11 years of schooling from primary education to high school graduation;
- Secondary school leaving qualification with a full transcript of records of the last school year, accompanied by a translation in Italian language officially legalized by the competent Italian Consulate in the country of residence, together with a corresponding Declaration of Value (if you have it) issued by the Italian authorities in the country, the educational system of the student’s school refers to;
- Language competence in English or Italian.
To enroll on the LUM University’s Foundation Year, students need to follow the following simple steps:
- Students must fill out the online application formby 25thAugust 2023.
Please, attach:
- transcript of records of the last secondary school year;
- copy of Passport;
- an original version of the secondary school leaving qualification (or a copy of the original version), officially translated into Italian, and Declaration of Value (if you have it) issued by the Italian authorities in the country of residence;
- evidence of language competence in English at an intermediate level.
- Applicants will be informed by e-mail of the acceptance or refusal of their application. After paying 20% of the tuition fees (first installment) and sending a copy of the bank transfer to international@lum.it, candidates who have been accepted will receive a letter of admission and confirmation that a place for the 2023-24 academic year has been reserved for them.
- Admitted students holding their Admission Letter will be able to enroll on the FY Programme through the website Universitaly submitting a pre-enrolment request form (please, see the guide).
- Admitted students holding their Admission Letter are requested to apply for a type D Visa (study purpose) at the Italian Embassy/Consulate in their home country. While waiting for their visa to be issued, prospective students will attend the online intensive course of Italian starting on 11thSeptember 2023. In case a visa for study purposes isn’t awarded leading to the termination from the Foundation Year programme, prospective students who will have attended the intensive course regularly and passed the corresponding exam will have to pay 300 euros for the course. This sum will be deducted from the first installment already paid. The remaining 300 euros will be refunded.
Prospective students who will continue attending the classes online after the first course will be considered as enrolled students and they will be granted the possibility of attending the first semester online, even in the event of a refusal of their visa. In this case, students will have to pay for the second installment to the University but will not have to pay for the third installment. At the end of the first semester, students will receive a certificate of attendance with the results of the exams which they will have taken.
- Prospective students are requested to pay the remaining 80% of tuition fee by: 1stOctober 2023.

Tuition fees
General programme: € 4.000.00
The fees include an insurance policy covering injuries and accidents occurred while studying and civil liability, teaching materials, tutoring, access to facilities and services of LUM University.
The fees do not include travel expenses, VISA, housing, meals, books, health insurance policy, personal expenses, Italian (Plida) or English language certificate fees.
