MASTER’S DEGREE IN DENTAL SURGERY AND DENTAL PROSTHESIS

The Master’s degree program in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (CLOPD, degree class LM-46R) aims to train the professional figure of “Dentist.” The CLOMO&PD program lasts six years and involves acquiring a total of 360 educational credits, distributed over 6 years of study. Of the 90 credits assigned to professional clinical internships, a portion (30 credits) is dedicated to practical evaluative internships for the purpose of obtaining the qualifying degree.

The educational path includes at least 5000 hours of theoretical and practical teaching; the first two years focus on basic training activities aimed at introducing the student to the biological foundations of the structural organization and vital functions of the human body and understanding the principles underlying the scientific methodology. The following three years involve studying medical, surgical, and specialized disciplines with a specific focus on clinical issues related to dental pathologies. The approach to the patient is progressive; initially, the student will practice in a preclinical laboratory equipped with modern equipment and state-of-the-art mannequins, then, accompanied by tutors, will perform activities on patients under the supervision of a supervisor-tutor. The sixth year is dedicated mainly to clinical activities and problem-solving related to carrying out the practical evaluative internship (PEI).
Educational activities take place within the Department of Medicine and Surgery, which provides modern classrooms, laboratories, and a simulation room. Professional training takes place at the Dental Clinic, currently under construction.
Students enrolled in the CLOPD program can participate in international study programs (ERASMUS) to engage in educational and internship activities.
Graduates in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics have opportunities for employment both in private practice and within the National Health Service structures (where they can hold managerial positions if they have a specialization diploma). After graduation, they can access specialization schools in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, as well as pursue a research career by enrolling in a Ph.D. program.
